A famed Chicago lawyer was remembered on the day he died 71 years ago. Each year on March 13, members of the Clarence Darrow Society remember Darrow's life and his work with a ceremony at a bridge named in his honor in Jackson Park.

Those gathered said a few words about Darrow's work and then threw flowers in the water. That's where Darrow's ashes were strewn after he died in 1938.

Darrow was a criminal and civil liberties attorney who was known for opposing the death penalty.
