Companies to make plastic bags more earth-friendly

April 22, 2009 The companies that make more than 80 percent of plastic bags you find at stores say they will make bags from 40 percent recycled materials by the year 2015.

The move follows pressure from environmental groups, retailers and consumers who are joining the movement to cut down on waste and greenhouse emissions caused by plastic bags each year.

Home Depot and Walgreens are two of the retailers who will use the new plastic bags.

Critics say reusable bags that do not contain any plastic are still best for the environment.
