Residents in far south suburban Sauk Village who get drinking water from private wells in the area are being advised to have it tested for possible contamination. The Illinois EPA says a routine test of Sauk Village's municipal wells found levels of vinyl chloride higher than the state's groundwater standard. Long-term exposure to the chemicals could increase the risk of liver and kidney problems.

People using private wells in the area are urged to have their water tested by a private lab.
