Chicken with oregano and ginger

Syeda Farid is a registered dietitian at Swedish Covenant Hospital and Galter LifeCenter. She shared this recipe that features herbs, which can have medicinal properties.Ingredients

1 tsp oregano seed
2 lb chicken (skinless/boneless breast) cut into pieces
3 tbsp. ginger/garlic paste
1 tbsp. fresh, coarsely ground black pepper
1 tsp. turmeric powder
¼ c olive oil
1 cup yogurt (optional)
Salt to taste


  1. Marinate the chicken with ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, oregano seeds and salt for 2 hours.
  2. Heat pan, add the marinated chicken, cook 20 min on low heat until tender.
  3. When water evaporates, add yogurt and oil, keep stirring for 5-6 minutes.
  4. Add black pepper to chicken cover and cook another 5 minutes.
