Burr Oak database delayed

July 29, 2009 (ALSIP, Ill.) Investigators have been photographing and cataloging every headstone, grave marker and known burial site at the Alsip cemetery with the hope of making the information available to those with loved ones buried at Burr Oak.

The Web site was originally scheduled to be up and running at the end of last week; however a Cook County Sheriff's spokesman tells ABC 7 the staff is still working through technical issues with the database. An internal meeting is scheduled for later Wednesday to determine when the site may become available to the public.

The entire cemetery was declared a crime scene and closed to the public on July 10. Four Burr Oak workers are charged in a scheme to re-sell occupied burial plots. Plans initially called for the cemetery to re-open August 1; however the court-appointed operator says it may take longer than originally planned.
