Study: Yoga eases back pain

September 8, 2009 The study found people who did yoga twice a week for six months reported improvements in their pain functioning. They also reported fewer symptoms of depression.

Iyengar yoga, a type of exercise that is popular in the US, builds strength, flexibility and balance by taking participants through a series of specific poses. Experts say that strengthens muscles to create a brace around the torso.
