Iran's Revolutionary Guard says the test drills are meant to show they are prepared to crush foreign military threats. They also say they're prepared to test longer-range missiles in the coming days that may be capable of reaching U.S. military bases in the Persian Gulf.
U.S. officials warn the tests could lead to tougher international sanctions.
Iranian leaders are expected to attend a meeting with western powers, including the United States on Thursday.
