No prison time for sisters in mother's death

October 9, 2009 (CHICAGO) Jill Barry, 55, and her sister, Julie Barry, 48, of Geneva were sentenced Friday to two years conditional discharge and community service.

The sisters were convicted in August of criminal neglect to an elderly person.

Their mother Mary Virginia Barry, 84, weighed only 70 pounds when she died of pneumonia in 2007.

Prosecutors said dehydration and malnourishment contributed to her death.
