Group gives $50K to help military families

November 8, 2009 (CHICAGO) The Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association presented the check to Gov. Pat Quinn Sunday.

The money will go to the Military Family Relief fund and will provide financial assistance to reservists and Guard members when they're deployed.

Quinn says often their military pay is much lower than what they make as a civilians. The fund helps make up that difference.

It has already provided help to more than 19,000 Illinois families.
