A phone call could save you a trip to the doctor's office. Researchers are developing software that can analyze coughs. Doctors will be able to tell if you have a cold, flu, pneumonia or other respiratory disease.

Subtle clues in a cough help the program determine whether there is mucus present or whether fluid has built up in your lungs.

Scientists in the US and Australia are working together to develop this software.
