When police were called to her apartment in March 2007, they found Melanie Beltran unconscious. She died one day later.
Authorities say the girl had been scalded, burned with cigarettes and beaten. Carlos Beltran, Petrov's common-law husband, is currently serving 20 years in prison on an aggravated batterycharge in his daughter's death for failing to prevent the abuse.
Petrov is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
