Chicago's 'Cool Gent' sets a world record

December 5, 2009 (CHICAGO)

"I'm very pleased to certify that Herbert Rogers Kent, 'the Cool Gent,' has set the new Guinness World Records title for the longest career as a DJ," said Danny Girton, a Guinness World Records representative, at a ceremony on Chicago's South Side.

Kent may have had the longest career by a disc jockey in radio history, but he's certainly no 'dusty' himself. The Cool Gent is celebrating his 65th anniversary in radio.

He was honored at the Real Men Charities third annual holiday roast and toast fundraiser.

Gov. Pat Quinn declared Saturday Herb Kent Day in Illinois, and the radio legend was also given both Chicago Bears and Bulls jerseys with the number 65.
