CFD honors 12 military service members

December 7, 2009 (CHICAGO) The Chicago Fire Department honored 12 of its members who are currently serving -- or have served in the U.S. military over the past two years.

Eleven of the 12 were able to attend. One member was unable to attend because he is currently serving in Kuwait.

"It's something that we can truly be proud of that we have people like yourselves that want to become members of the military. And to me your very proud of the uniform-- whether it's the military uniform or the fire department uniform," said Mayor Daley.

Those who where able to attend received levels or recognition -- including certificates of appreciation -- depending upon their number of tours.
