Bond set for man accused of threatening alderman

Bond is set at $70,000 for a man accused of threatening Alderman Carrie Austin.Julius Jenkins is charged with threatening a public official and aggravated assault.

Police say he walked into Austin's office on the city's far South Side with a knife, and threatened to kill the alderman.

Austin was not in the office at the time.

Someone called police, and Jenkins was taken into custody.
