Water main break floods NW Side street

City crews dealt with a water main break on the Northwest Side Monday morning. Water bubbled up from cracks in the pavement and flooded the street after a pipe near Gunnison and Central ruptured. The water submerged the tires of a couple of parked cars.

Besides repairing the water main and draining the flooded street, city crews were also trying to keep all that water from freezing over and leaving a sheet of ice on the street.

But cold temperatures froze the water, making it difficult to move the cars.

Another main broke in the area over the weekend near Lawrence and Narragansett.
