A report Saturday indicated that former Chicago Public School Board President Michael Scott spoke to one of Mayor Daley's top aides just hours before he committed suicide.Scott's body was found in the Chicago River November 16, 2009.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the day he died, Scott spoke with the mayor's press secretary, Jacquelyn Heard. The two reportedly scheduled a meeting to discuss some questionable expenses that Scott and his staff had charged to his Board credit card.

Saturday, Mayor Daley called the article "totally irresponsible."

"[It is] a phony headline to some way relate a conversation between anyone on my staff and Michael Scott and some way conjecture, some way, that this conversation had anything to do with his suicide. I feel sorry for them," Mayor Daley said.

Heard confirmed Saturday afternoon that she spoke to Scott but also raised objection to the Sun-Times headline, which reads, "Hours Before His Suicide: City Hall's 13-minute call to Michael Scott."
