Chicago gets $100M for rail projects

The Chicago area is getting $100 million in federal stimulus money for freight and rail projects.The money will be used on more than a dozen projects, including new overpasses and new signal systems.

About 500 freight trains pass through Chicago and the suburbs everyday, along with 700 commuter trains.

Some of the rail projects will help ease train congestion. Governor Pat Quinn says the work will create 1,000 new jobs in Illinois.
