Quinn was joined Saturday by representatives from several animal welfare groups.
During the recession, many pet owners have been forced to give up their four-legged friends.
"If you are losing your home or something, don't leave your pet because you're just leaving it there to die. Take it to a shelter; take it to a rescue. We're overburdened, but we'll make do," said Steve Zorn of Precious Pets Almost Home.
