Police rerouted traffic during Monday's evening rush while crews cleaned up a chemical that spilled from a tanker truck in Lockport.

The spill occurred at State and 9th streets at 4:11 p.m.

Officials say the spilled chemical is xylene, which is used in the printing and leather industries.

Less than 100 gallons of the liquid was spilled from the tanker and spread approximately 300 feet from 8th to 9th Street.

No one was injured, and one building was evacuated.
