Former contractor to plead guilty to drug charges

A former contractor who fled the country to avoid testifying about bribing Chicago officials has indicated he will plead guilty to drug charges.

In 1997, Marco Morales pleaded guilty in the silver shovel corruption case. Charges of distributing a kilogram of cocaine were dropped. Morales fled to Mexico the same year. He was arrested there last year when the drug charge was resurrected.

It is believed the statute of limitations has run out on any corruption Morales could testify about.
