Nonadjustable seats added to Spirit planes

May 12, 2010 The non-adjustable, pre-reclined seats lean back 3 inches and have already been installed in two of Spirit's airbus jets. The airline plans to add them to two more by the end of the year.

The new seats are lighter, which saves fuel. The airline says they are also less intrusive because passengers don't have to deal with the people in front of them adjusting their seats.

Last month, Spirit became the first airline to charge passengers for carry-on bags.
