Fire destroys historic Gardner restaurant

June 9, 2010 (GARDNER, Ill.) Firefighters were called out to the restaurant in Gardner. which is about 60 miles southwest of Chicago.

Firefighters could do little to save the Riviera Restaurant. Local officials say the restaurant once was one of Al Capone's hangouts.

Getting water on the fire was difficult because there were no hydrants near the restaurant. Tankers were called in to bring water to firefighters. Other crews from several communities in the area were also called to help.

No one was hurt in this fire. An investigation is now underway.
