5 charged after friend drowns in pond

July 19, 2010 (GLENVIEW, Ill.) Police say the canoes were taken from Valley Lo Club in Glenview on a private lake. The two men and three women were with 29-year-old Andrew Porter of Evanston, who drowned in that lake.

No criminal charges in connection with the drowning will be filed against the five.

Porter's body was found Monday around 2:30 a.m. The five were searching for their friend when crews arrived around 1:30 a.m., police say. Porter was pronounced dead at Glenbrook Hospital around 3 a.m.
