Governor Quinn cut the ribbon this morning to officially open the 157th Illinois State Fair.

The governor says the fair is valuable to the state as entertainment and as a promotion for Illinois agriculture.

Among the attractions, sculptor Sharon Bumann unveiled her latest creation, the 2010 Illinois state fair butter cow.

The fair runs 10 days.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children.
