The shooting happened just after 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Marathon station on S. Halsted.
Police say two people walked into the gas station, pointed a handgun at the cashier and shot him in the chest.
One of the suspects reportedly tried to open the cash register but was not successful.
The victim is a 44-year old man. He is in intensive care at Christ Hospital.
