SCOTUS refuses to hear Vrdolyak case

The U.S. Supreme Court will not hear the case of former Chicago Alderman Ed Vrdolyak, which means he will be resentenced later this month as scheduled.

Vrdolyak pleaded guilty to a $1.5 million kickback scheme in 2008. The federal judge spared him prison time. But the sentence was overturned by a federal appeals court.

Vrdolyak faces three years in prison and a substantial fine at his resentencing.
