City may make cuts at Taste, other festivals

Mayor Richard M. Daley may make cuts to some of the city's most popular festivals if he can't reach deals with private companies.

Daley has said he will not support admission fees to the Taste of Chicago or six other city-sponsored festivals that are up for privatization, including Viva Chicago and the blues, jazz, Celtic, country and gospel festivals.

City officials say funding is limited and some festivals may have to be combined.
