Chicago cops who served in military honored

A group of Chicago police officers who also served to defend their country were honored Thursday for distinguished service.Officers gave a standing ovation to the parents of Officer Thomas Wortham, who was honored posthumously.

Wortham was a military veteran who had just returned from his second tour in of duty in Iraq when he was shot and killed in a robbery attempt back in May.

A total of 24 Chicago Police Department members received military deployment awards Thursday.

The officers served in all branches of the U.S. military.
