Acupuncture really does help relieve pain, according to a new study.

It determined the technique alters the way that the brain perceives and processes pain.

Scientists used MRI scans to measure pain activity in the brain of participants.

They found, acupuncture not only masked the activation of pain processing areas of the brain, but also reduced activation in areas of the brain that control expectations of pain.
