McDonald's CEO defends Happy Meals

December 14, 2010

The company's CEO Jim Skinner tells the financial times that critics are trying to undermine parents' ability to make decisions for their families.

Last month San Francisco's board of supervisors voted to ban restaurants from offering toys with meals unless the food meets certain limits on calories, fat, sodium and sugar. The ban takes effect next year.

Skinner says Happy Meals include healthy options like apples and they meet FDA guidelines. He says McDonald's will continue to sell Happy Meals.
