Charges were expected Tuesday against a man who allegedly used a knife to try and rob a north suburban pharmacy.

The suspect was then shot and wounded by the pharmacist in Wauconda at the Wauconda Pharmacy.

Police say the suspect forced his way into the pharmacist's work area and grabbed drugs. Police say the pharmacist opened fire when the suspect made a threatening advance toward employees.

The pharmacist is a registered gun owner and is allowed to have the weapon in the store.

No employees or customers were hurt.
