A 13-year-old boy who threw acid at two younger children will spend three months at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center.

At a sentencing hearing Wednesday, the boy apologized for his actions. The judge ordered him held at the center until July.

Last August, the boy stood on a porch in the 900-block of West Garfield and threw drain cleaner containing sulfuric acid at his neighbors. The acid burned the children's heads and arms and caused permanent scars.
