Report: Homicides down, car thefts up in Chicago

One of the biggest drops is the number of homicides -- they were down 14.4 percent compared to June of 2010. So far this year, there have been 31 fewer homicides than in the first six months of last year.

Overall crime dropped 4.22 percent. One big increase was in the number of car thefts. They rose 17.4 percent in June. But police say within the last month, they shut down two chop shops operating on the West Side.
