The recall includes 3-and-a-half pound and 7-pound bags of Purina ONE Vibrant Maturity 7+ Dry Cat Food.
The bags have a "best by" date of May 2012.
They were sold in a dozen states, including Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan.
These products should not be handled with bare hands, and should be thrown away. Customers should contact the company for a refund.
