Wisconsin Division of Emergency Management spokeswoman Lori Getter says local officials have determined a middle-aged man was killed in the storm Friday evening in Marinette County. Neither his name nor the circumstances of his death have been released.
However, Getter says it appears a tornado touched down in the area as the storm moved through around 5 p.m. She says trees and power lines are down and about 2,000 people are without power in Marinette and neighboring Menomonie counties.
The National Weather Service is reporting the storm also packed nearly 2-inch hail.
The storm moved out and no other watches or warnings had been issued.
A damage survey team is scheduled to go out on Saturday.
