Recipe Remakes: Substitutions for food allergies

Certified health counselor, Christina Chodos has some ideas for easy recipe remakes.

Suggestions for Substitutes for common foods:

In Place of Regular Flour: Quinoa, Brown Rice, Garbanzo Bean, or Potato Flour

In Place of Dairy: Rice or Soy Milk, Tofu (silken or firm depending on recipe) Tofutti's Dairy-Free Sour Cream

In Place of Egg: Egg Replacer, by ENER- G, Water for some baking recipes, Applesauce (Unsweetened) or Banana (Mashed)

There are many options to replace Peanut Butter: you can use Soynut Butter, Sunflower Butter, Pumpkin Seed Butter.

Christina Chodos is a Certified Health Counselor, educator and mother of three.

Christina received her training at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York. She is also certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, leads workshops on nutrition, and offers custom-tailored health and nutrition counseling to parents, families and individuals seeking to improve their dietary well-being and overall health.
