Soldier Field GM: Turf ready for season kickoff

Soldier Field's general manager says the stadium's turf is in great shape and will be ready for the Bears to kick their season off on Sunday.

The turf was under a protective tarp Friday afternoon because of the threat of rain.

On Thursday, workers were tending to the playing surface which appeared brown in a few spots.

General Manager Tim Lefevour tells ABC7 the turf was okayed by the Bears following their last walk-through and that there was no need to re-sod the field.

The Bears tangle with the Atlanta Falcons at noon Sunday.
