The city of Chicago may buy unused cemetery land for a nature preserve on the Northwest Side.

The land belongs to the Rosehill Cemetery.

Mayor Emanuel introduced the plan to buy the property Monday.

The mayor wants city approval to spend $7.8 million to acquire the land and then plans to turn the property over to the Chicago Park District for $1.
