Feds: Poor communication before firefighter deaths

September 23, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The fire broke out on December 22 in the 1700-block of East 75th Street, and the firefighters were inside an abandoned building when the roof collapsed. Corey Ankum and Edward Stringer died, and 19 others injured.

The report says that without enough two-way radios, firefighters inside the building did not know that support beams were in danger of collapsing.
