A judge has acquitted a Joliet woman of reckless conduct and battery charges in the death of man she punched last year.

Tiffany Startz, 22, hit John Powell in the face after Powell made a $5 bet that he could take the punch. The man died from the blow in September of 2010.

On Wednesday morning, the judge issued a directed verdict of not guilty after the woman's attorneys said prosecutors did not prove their case.
