Parents ask Brizard to attend meeting on longer school day

October 26, 2011 (CHICAGO)

A group of parents was there to ask schools CEO Jean-Claude Brizard to attend a meeting Wednesday night to talk about the longer day proposal.

Teachers at more than a dozen CPS buildings have voted to extend their days by 90 minutes. But the teachers union says the way the administration is going about it leaves them out of the process.

The Emanuel administration has championed the plan citing the fact that CPS has the shortest school day of any big city in the country.
