CFD: Change your clock, smoke detector batteries

November 5, 2011 4:56:23 PM PDT
The Chicago Fire Department is urging everyone to change the batteries in your smoke detectors, which coincides with the overnight switch from daylight saving time to standard time.

On Friday, firefighters were handing out flyers to remind residents to make the change when you turn your clock back one hour Saturday night. Officially, the time change occurs at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Residents of Hawaii, most of Arizona and some U.S. territories don't have to change since they did not observe daylight saving time, which resumes the second Sunday in March.
