Officials say more than 2,200 Chicago dog owners have purchased licenses for their pets in the last two weeks, generating about $20,000 for the city.

The city has plans to crackdown on unlicensed dogs, which could generate revenue. Fines range from $50 to $200.

A license is $5 for a neutered dog and $50 for dogs that are not neutered. Seniors pay $2.50 a year for sterilized animals and $5 for those that aren't.
