Study: Multitasking more stressful for moms

December 1, 2011

According to research in the American Sociological Review", working moms multitask about 48 hours a week, compared to roughly 39 hours for dads.

And, not only are they doing more, but this provocative new study says multitasking is much more stressful for moms.

Researchers say that's because women are juggling labor intensive tasks including housework or childcare.

For men, the multitasking can involve less burdensome tasks like carrying on a three-way conversation or engaging in personal care.

The authors suggest working dads need to help working moms with more of the housework and childcare.
