Study: Red meat may boost kidney cancer risk

December 29, 2011

US researchers found that middle-aged adults who ate the most red meat were 19 percent more likely to be diagnosed with kidney cancer than those who ate the least.

The study reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that grilled or barbecued meat was also linked to increased risk of the disease.

But some experts say you shouldn't rule red meat all together. Red meat is an important source of iron and protein.
