As he sat at Saint Sabina Church watching Sunday morning's service, it was hard to tell that Ondelee Perteet was shot and paralyzed two years ago.
The young man and his mother, Detreena, received a Blue Heart Award from Father Michael Pfleger.
The award was given while a special guest was on hand.
Elder Bernice King, who is the youngest child of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Coretta Scott King, spoke to the church.
