Public transportation in Chicago is more popular than ever as the Chicago Transit Authority had its busiest year in two decades.

More than 530 million rides were recorded in 2011, a 3-percent increase over the previous year.

Overall, train ridership was up 5.2 percent, while bus ridership jumped 1.4 percent.

The Blue Line experienced the largest increase. But the busiest rail line is still the Red Line.
