The Grayslake Police chief has been charged with drunk driving after he crashed while returning from a restaurant just over the state line in Wisconsin.

Forty-five-year-old Matt McCutcheon was with his wife at the time of the accident on Friday night around 10 p.m. According to the Kenosha County police report, he struck another vehicle head-on while attempting to turn south onto Route 45 in Silver Lake, Wisconsin.

Responding officers say McCutcheon was swaying back and forth, and his eyes were red and glassy.

No one was injured in the crash.

In a statement Wednesday, the mayor of Grayslake said the village is conducting an investigation into the matter.
