Former Chicago Ald. Ed Vrdolyak is a free man.

A federal judge has ended home imprisonment three months early for Vrdolyak.

Vrdolyak was supposed to serve five months of home confinement, but the Sun-Times reported a judge said Vrdolyak can do 300 hours of community service instead.

He served a 10-month sentence at an Indiana federal prison camp for a real estate kickback scheme. He pleaded guilty in 2008.
