Pacifiers may increase breastfeeding

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of Pacifiers by Antonio Flores Due to Choking Hazard

For years, medical experts have been concerned the regular use of pacifiers might interfere with breastfeeding.

It's an unproven theory and now new research suggests the opposite may actually be true. Researchers at the 'Oregon Health and Sciences University' studied the records for over 2,000 infants.

They found giving a newborn a pacifier now and then may actually increase the amount they breastfeed. There was also an increase in newborns receiving formula when pacifiers were denied.

Researchers are hoping this study encourages more interest in the pacifier debate.
